SimLauncher - an app for launching games and apps in one go

iRacing Manager is a tool we've used previously that allows you to launch iRacing, Crew Chief, overlays, OBS, etc., all in one go. However, this app hasn't had any development in ages, so using it on a modern OS might not be very secure.

You can also get a similar result as iRacing Manager by creating a batch file that could run everything with one click, but if you're unfamiliar with the inner workings of Windows batch files, then SimLauncher may be for you.

SimLauncher features

The first thing we like about SimLauncher is that the developer decided to make this free and open source. We also like the support for so many racing sims like Le Mans Ultimate, iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, AutoMobilista 2, etc. In total, SimLauncher supports 27 sims, including both racing and flight sims.

SimLauncher in action

Installation is a simple matter of downloading and running the app to set up your Sims and apps, and then you're off to the races.

You can create a list of apps linked to each racing sim that you play, and once it's set up, clicking the green Play arrow will launch the game with all of the relevant apps.

SimLauncher apps config

The developer makes it quite clear that you won't need SimLauncher if you're only running the sim itself and maybe one or two apps, but if you're like us, then you would normally run several apps and tools at the same time as the game.

Final thoughts

We didn't like that AI was used in the making of this app. However, the developer stated on GitHub that:

"Development is AI-assisted (Claude Code, Codex & Gemini) with human review on every change, disclosed openly in the commit history."

Based on that, we'll reserve judgment on whether this app will be worth its salt or not, sometime in the future.

We also are not sure if SimLauncher will remain free or if it will move to a subscription model like so many other apps we've come across.

Regardless, we think there's some merit in SimLauncher, and it is definitely worth having a look. It is, after all, free and loading it up and checking if it's a good fit for you can't be such a bad idea.
